Internal Power Filters are an economic way
to provide efficient filtration for your aquarium. The
Internal Power filter is situated within the Aquarium and an integrated
pump creates water movement. This pump draws water
into the filter where it is past through a foam filter media, providing
mechanical and biological filtration. Some models also include carbon
cartridges to enable chemical filtration to be undertaken to remove
odours and tannins from the aquarium water.
Internal Power Filters are silent in operation and much more efficient
than traditional air powered filter systems. The water movement
generated by the pump ensures that the water's surface is agitated,
creating oxygen exchange and removing the need for a noisy airpump.
This type of filter can easily be hidden
in the rear corner of your aquarium and all models include suitable
fixing attachments. If keeping tropical fish, place your heaterstat next
to the filter to ensure that sufficient water movement passes over the
heating element, and the pump will provide a uniform heat throughout the
aquarium.
Internal Power Filters are very easy to
maintain, simply release the lower canister from the pump head and rinse
the dirty filter cartridge in used aquarium water when necessary, or
discard as appropriate. Never rinse your filter media under tap water as
this will destroy the beneficial bacteria colonies that form upon them,
and never discard more than 50% of your filter media at any time. |
