Our aquariums are often
filled either using tap water, or by using water that has been pased
through a reverse osmosis system to remove pollutants. Either way, the
water used often excludes minerals and trace elements that would be
found within the natural habitat of our livestock. Further to this,
effective filtration whilst necessary, as a by product often removes any
minerals and trace elements that may be introduced. It is important
therefore to add these elements back into the aquarium at an appropriate
dose to ensure our livestock has available the minerals and trace
elements necessary for growth and development. This is particularly
important when keeping marine inverts which will readily adsorb the
trace elements provided in salt water mixes whilst growing. In order to
optimise the level of growth of the inverts, supplements should be
added. As there are a large number of supplements available upon the
market which may prove confusing, a number of manufacturers have
provided starter kits which introduce the new comer to this area of the
hobby; and we are happy to provide any guidance that you may require.
Our extensive range of additives caters for all areas of the hobby and
has products suitable for the beginner to the professional aquarist. |
